"Druid is an 11 mile round trip hike in the needles district of Canyonlands. It’s hidden away in a giant stone amphitheater with a very noticeably magical atmosphere. When I was at the arch making this drawing, it was so quiet i could hear birds wings flap from a quarter mile away.”

About the Artist:

Jess Hough is a local Moab artist, printmaker, carpenter, and handyman. She spends most of her time plein air drawing out in the red rock desert, making traditional intaglio prints on her homemade printing press, making paper, and building hand made frames for her art.

In 2023 Jess was selected to be resident Community Artist in the Parks, a local program which partners artists with the national parks and monuments of Southeast Utah.

Much of this collection was created during her time out in the parks doing demos of print making and plein air drawing.
