Miranda Black
Based in La Sal, Utah, I am a former art educator and current HR professional who finds inspiration on the family farm I share with my husband and three kids. When I’m not managing the farm or ushering my children to their next sporting event, you can find me exploring the world, fueled by a deep-seated wanderlust.
With a degree in Visual Arts Education and years of experience teaching everything from studio art to fashion design, I now translate my passion for the outdoors into studies of landscape and wildlife. While I spend a lot of time with watercolor and waterproof ink, I love keeping an acrylic or oil painting on the canvas to work on in tandem. When working with watercolor, I like to begin with a foundational pencil sketch and then experiment with washes to build unique, organic textures. Once the color has set, I define the piece through cross-hatching and pointillism, adding intentional depth and character. This blend of fluid color and precise line work brings a modern, detailed perspective to the landscapes and wildlife I call home.
